Operations Production Manager

Position Overview

Carter Support Services is seeking an experienced Operations Production Manager to oversee key manufacturing operations within a heavy industrial environment. This role is responsible for driving performance across safety, quality, productivity, and cost control while ensuring efficient plant operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in steel, metals, chemicals, or other heavy industrial production environments who are looking to lead teams and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of safety, quality, productivity, and cost control within assigned production areas
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time and optimize material flow
• Implement mission-critical maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to hourly production personnel
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and housekeeping practices
• Troubleshoot and support electrical systems and production equipment based on operational needs
• Ensure equipment availability to support on-time delivery and product quality
• Coordinate with internal and external teams to support mill operations and production flow
• Develop and promote cross-training programs to enhance workforce capability

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree OR minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisor role
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
• Knowledge of:
  • PLC systems
  • Motor control centers
  • Static drives
  • Power distribution systems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints
• Strong leadership and team management skills

Preferred Experience

• Background in heavy industrial operations (steel, metals, chemicals, or similar)
• Experience leading teams in high-volume or process-driven environments
• Proven track record in continuous improvement and operational efficiency

Work Environment

• Industrial manufacturing setting
• Requires flexibility to support off-shifts and weekends as needed
